Scary Movie 5 looked to parody flicks such as Mama, Paranormal Activity, Evil Dead, Black Swan, and Inception. Of course, that was a lot to onboard for the fifth installment of a series, and an I second Barbarian. It’s one of the newer horror movies that stuck out from the rest of the pack for me. I can explain why but don’t want to spoil it. Def watch that one. The only ones out of that I haven’t seen are - The Dark and The Wicked. Edit - I did see The Void, and Host.
Scary Movie 5 killed whatever hope there was for the franchise when it was released 10 years ago and not having Anna Faris and Ragina Hall return is what really ruined the movie. It was pretty much a Setlzerberg film, but without Seltzerberg's involvement.

I prefer Scary Movie 5, myself. Molly Shannon won it for me. Frailty with Mathew McConaughey was really good, so was Pandorum, oh and Ghost Ship, that scene on the dance floor, shudder. Oh, Frailty is a great film and the only film Bill Paxton ever directed.
This movie is colorful, funny, scary, tense, and an incredibly fun time. If you like the Evil Dead movies, this is one you must check out; Sam Raimi basically directly ripped one of Spooky Kind
