I purchased this game from Steam not too long ago because I was feeling nostalgic, and I am running it on a Windows 8.1 laptop. The USB mouse is not functioning in the pause menu or in gameplay. I also purchased GTA3 and have not had any issues with the mouse functioning.

cant move camera on win10. I can't move the camera on foot, in the settings it works to the mouse, to shoot with the weapons with scope it works, but to move the left-right camera doesn't work. what should i do? i tryied to change compatibility to win 8 or lower but im using win 10. I decided to finally get GTA The Trilogy on steam during a sale, I tried to play GTA Vice City but every time I open the game it says the game requires at least directx 1.8 (even know I directx 12 comes with windows 10) to play the game and also says "An app on your PC requires the following feature Directplay. I just bought this game and it unplayable because my mouse doesnt work. Ive seen some answers on here but its all computer jargon that is really hard to understand. Im just a regular guy i dont know how to de-code computer jargon. Plz help, if i cant figure this out ill need to return the game.
Posted January 2, 2011. I tried downloading a saved game file, copied it to C:\Users\Johnny5\Documents\GTA Vice City User Files. I tried to start the game from the saved file and it started from the very beginning. I then did an uninstall and a clean install and I'm still getting the same problem.
Make sure to then use a no-cd exe. I got mine from GameCopyWorld. Also, when installing, make sure to check the option to install the music to the hard drive. Together, these measures will remove the need for having the disc in the drive, which will also remove any copy protection that may be causing the issue. cJoz.
